Qarma Special Indian Desserts
Gulab Jamun – £2.95
Gulab jamun originates from an Arabic dessert, Lugmat Al Qadi (Arabic for “the judge’s bite”), that became popular in the Indian Subcontinent during the Mughal era. Rosewater syrup if often used; however here at Qarma we use in addition saffron syrup and honey.
Rassmalai – £2.95
A popular favourite among our own team at Qarma, Ras Malai is dumplings made from indian cheese soaked in sweetened, thickened milk delicately flavoured with cardamon/pistachio and other species. Served chilled.
Jalebi – £2.95
Made with a type of wheat flour called maida flour. Saffron is key to preparing jalebi to get the yellow or orange colour of each treat. Yogurt, water and baking powder, rosewater, date molasses and maple syrup are the primary ingredients for the batter, which when combined i allowed to sit for a few hours in order to ferment slightly. The batter is the ioped in concentric circles into hot oil to produce a crispy and slightly chewy result.
